Brodsky Quartet - String Quartet started in Middlesbrough in 1972 by brother and sister Michael and Jacqueline Thomas with friends Ian Belton and Alexander Robertson. Known for playing classical music, and in particular the classic string quartet repertoire of Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Bartok and Shostakovich, they have also collaborated with such rock and pop figures as Björk, Sting, Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney.

Journey South - Brothers Carl and Andy Pemberton are a talented musical duo from Middlesbrough. They achieved third place on the second UK series of popular television talent show The X Factor in 2005. We're proud of their musical achievement and generosity of spirit. They released their song "That's What I Love About Home" as a single to help Charity Help for Heroes.

Stephen Barchan - Award-winning composer and music copyist born in Middlesbrough. His music has been performed throughout Europe, Australia and the USA, along with various radio broadcasts.He recently scored the music for the new film "A Closed Book" (based on the novel by Gilbert Adair) directed by Raoul Ruiz and starring Daryl Hannah, which premiered at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.

Suzannah Clarke - Opera singer Suzannah Clarke was born and brought up in Middlesbrough. Suzannah gained her BA Hons degree in Business Studies, worked for a year in British Steel at Redcar and Cleveland and then turned to opera!

 

She has performed as Principal at some of the top opera houses in the world including La Scala, Milan, the Hungarian State Opera, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera and Scottish Opera.

Suzannah is also a Love Middlesbrough ambassador.
