comedian jon richardson is coming to middlesbrough town hall in may 2018

Teesside’s comedy fans have another huge treat ahead, with top TV comic Jon Richardson bringing his brand-new show The Old Man to Middlesbrough Town Hall on Friday 18 May next year.

Tickets go on sale at 10am next Thursday morning (2 November), with the gig marking a very welcome Teesside return for Jon after previously selling-out hugely enjoyable Town Hall visits in recent years.

A string of top TV credits including 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Have I Got News for You, Live at the Apollo, Channel 4’s Comedy Gala, Would I Lie to You and, most recently, Taskmaster have all helped establish Jon as one of the funniest and best loved comics in the country.

Now, the British Comedy Award nominee is making a welcome return to Middlesbrough with a brand-new show to complain about the state of the world and offer no solutions.

Since his last tour, Jon has become a husband and father, seen the UK vote to leave the EU and watched the rise of Donald Trump, all of which leaves him asking one question; why does it seem that no one else alive can correctly load a dishwasher?

The gig adds to keenly anticipated dates by Russell Brand (31 May), Daliso Chaponda (9 June), Sarah Millican (13, 14 & 15 June), Jason Manford (6 July) and Joe Lycett (29 September), with the Town Hall diary already taking good shape ahead of reopening next year after its current major refurbishment.

Rob Guest of Middlesbrough Town Hall said: “Jon is a fantastic comic who’s absolutely stormed it when he’s been here before, so it goes without saying that we’re looking forward to seeing him back here with his brand-new show.

“It’s another great date for the diary, and it’s exciting to have so many top gigs already confirmed for the first few months after we reopen.

“There’s already lots of top nights ahead, and it looks like we have plenty more good news on the horizon…. We’ll keep you posted!”
