A wedding and party planning business has doubled in size, while a beauty treatment business has invested in a re-fit and a re-brand in Middlesbrough’s Dundas Indoor Market. 

Angies Party Den has moved into a large prominent unit at the front of Dundas Market, more than doubling its retail space, just a year after returning to the indoor market.  

A successful 12 months trading offering her wedding and party planning service, plus a full range of cards, gifts and accessories, persuaded owner Angela Knowles to make the investment to increase her range of celebratory cards, invitations, banners, balloons and other decorations and add wedding flowers.  She also hires glassware and chair covers and sources wedding cakes and DJ’s. 

“I’ve been running Angies Party Den since 2006, starting out in the Dundas Indoor Market, but since we moved back last year business has been very good.  Our move to the new unit will allow us to capture more passing trade and expand our range of services and products,” says Angela. 

At the same time, long standing beauty treatment business How-R-You has refurbished its unit and co-branded its business as Dermadio Beauty Skin Clinic to focus more on providing skin consultations, treatment and bespoke products to help their customers look their best.  

“We offer a comprehensive range of beauty consultations including facial treatments, eyebrow shaping, eyelash tinting, as well as a wide range of Dermadio products which allow our clients to take control of their skin,” says owner Shammi Bhardwaj.

David Harris, Dundas Market Manager says: “We are delighted to see businesses growing and investing in the indoor market.  Last year Dundas Shopping Centre and Indoor Market enjoyed record footfall and it is good to see our tenants reacting positively to that. 

“We are a community market with independent traders working together selling complementary products and services and shoppers getting value for money as they return time and again. 

“We still have a few units available, especially for traders looking to sell toys, music/games/books or fruit and veg, but we are always interested to hear from people with an idea for a new business, or who are looking to open a second outlet for their existing business.  

“For new traders who want to test out a business idea, we also offer a small number of Enterprise Units from £60 per week, which equates to just £10 a day, on short term tenant agreements.”
