Join us for the 27th anniversary of the Middlesbrough Mela. Mela is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘gathering’ or ‘to meet’ or a ‘fair’. This year Middlesbrough Mela will take place July 15-16.
Last year’s Mela attracted an audience of around 50,000 over the free two-day festival – it is the largest and longest established event of its kind in the North East.
Mela promises a fabulous mix of world class music, a wide range of entertainment, a family fairground and a popular bazaar, packed full of stalls and participatory workshops and opportunities.
Held every year since 1990, the Middlesbrough College-sponsored Mela sees the town celebrate its culture and diversity through a wide range of music, entertainment, a funfair and a popular bazaar packed full of stalls.
Message from TVgreenplaces: TOMORROW'S BIRD EVENT AT BLUE BELL BECK TO BE RESCHEDULED.
We're really sad to be beaten by the strong winds forecast for tomorrow. The rain wouldn't have been a problem but the strong winds mean we can't put up the gazebo and the materials for the activities would get blown around :( Sorry!
Unfortunately, we don't have a nearby/available indoor venue to retreat to, but it is such a lovely site we'd love to return on a better day and enjoy a fab day out!
If you're super hardy, there will still be a few of us out to catch those who miss this message and we'll do some simple, weather proof activities, but it will be very basic and we might not last very long.
We'll understand if you want to stay in and make your own bird feeder and check out the fab activities you can try at home from http://www.wildlifewatch.org.uk/Activity-Sheets
We'll let you know when we set the rescheduled date (maybe Easter hols) and I promise it will be marvellous!
