Join us for the 27th anniversary of the Middlesbrough Mela. Mela is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘gathering’ or ‘to meet’ or a ‘fair’. This year Middlesbrough Mela will take place July 15-16.
Last year’s Mela attracted an audience of around 50,000 over the free two-day festival – it is the largest and longest established event of its kind in the North East.
Mela promises a fabulous mix of world class music, a wide range of entertainment, a family fairground and a popular bazaar, packed full of stalls and participatory workshops and opportunities.
Held every year since 1990, the Middlesbrough College-sponsored Mela sees the town celebrate its culture and diversity through a wide range of music, entertainment, a funfair and a popular bazaar packed full of stalls.
May is shaping up to be mighty fine! We're kicking off with Restaurant Week (1-7 May) - all the food! Then for the entire month it's Local History Month and there are loads of fab events celebrating the glorious history of Middlesbrough - we can't wait for it all!
