Summer Holidays 2018

School's out for the Summer and we're so excited!

Mela 2017 logo

Join us for the 27th anniversary of the Middlesbrough Mela.

This year's Mela takes place on 15 and 16 July, in Centre Square.

Last year's Mela attracted an audience of around 50,000 over the free two-day festival – it's the largest and longest established event of its kind in the North East.

This year's Mela promises a fabulous mix of world class music, a wide range of entertainment, a family fairground and a popular bazaar, packed full of stalls and participatory workshops and opportunities.

Held every year since 1990, the Middlesbrough Mela sees the town celebrate its culture and diversity. Mela is a Sanskrit word meaning 'gathering' or 'to meet', or a 'fair'.

Recently he has supported R&B legend Alexander O'Neal, X Factor's Kiera Weathers and Chloe Castro from The Voice to name but a few. He also performed at his first sellout headline gig which went down a storm, and is already looking ahead to an exciting future.

His early influences were Usher, Boyz II Men and Michael Jackson. Zack is constantly surrounded by a multitude of different music. He says his sound is best described as 'R&B infused style with a crossover sound'. This crossover sound includes Bollywood and Arabian-influenced music.

Zack is also one of the very few singer-songwriters who produces, composes and engineers their own music. He has written for Tinie Tempah, Ginuwine, IYAZ, Nick McDonald (X-Factor), and Stylo G, and supported Taio Cruz, Mario and Jessie J live. He's also had the tremendous honor of writing six singles which reached the top 5 in the Asian charts, as well as two top 5 singles in the iTunes UK R&B chart, not to mention performing at Wembley and the O2 Arena. While he considers these both memorable career highlights, Zack still aspires to write that elusive #1 Billboard single!
